Effective RECA exam preparation requires more than repeatedly reading course material. You need to understand the tested concepts, apply them to realistic situations, and identify the areas where you need more practice.
Our Alberta real estate exam prep is designed for candidates registered with the Real Estate Council of Alberta and preparing for a real estate or mortgage brokerage licensing exam. Each program is organized around the applicable RECA exam blueprint and focuses on the knowledge and reasoning required for that specific exam.

RECA pre-licensing exams assess whether candidates have the competencies required to work safely and professionally in Alberta's regulated real estate industries. Fundamentals exams contain 120 questions, while all other pre-licensing exams contain 100 questions. Candidates are given three hours (180 minutes) to complete each exam. The required pass mark is 70%.
Pre-licensing exams are administered by Pearson at a test centre and currently cost $235 per attempt. Candidates have two attempts and must pass within three months of completing their course.
Each exam is based on an approved Industry Council Competency Exam Blueprint. The blueprint identifies the competencies assessed on the exam and the relative weighting assigned to each area.
RECA exams test your ability to apply knowledge, not simply memorize course material. Question formats may include single-select and multi-select questions, matching, enhanced matching, fill-in-the-blank, and point-and-click items.
RECA also offers an optional online Prep Exam. Each attempt includes 75 questions, allows 90 minutes, and costs $65. Eligible candidates may purchase up to three attempts. A competency score breakdown is provided after the attempt, but answers and question-specific feedback are not included.
Each Alberta Real Estate Exam Pass program is fully aligned with the applicable RECA Competency Exam Blueprint. Study guides, topic-based quizzes and full-length practice tests reflect the competencies and exam weightings published for the corresponding licensing exam.
